Recap: Southampton vs Liverpool 4:4 (Sport1)
The Premier League season came to an end on Sunday evening with all ten matches of the 38th round being played. The focus of attention was, of course, on the struggles for survival, but the lockout cycle provided more stories from the other courts as well. Unai Emery's Aston Villa secured their ticket to the Conference League at Tottenham's expense, Roberto Firmino bid farewell to Liverpool with a goal in a crazy 4-4 win against Southampton, who themselves left the Premier League after 11 seasons. Manchester City were surprised, Arsenal celebrated and Manchester United finished third with wins over Fulham and Manor Solomon.

Roberto Firmino's farewell game from the Mighty Reds also became the most productive matchup of the final round. Diogo Jota took advantage of a serious mistake in the Championship defence in the 19th minute, and four minutes later the Brazilian doubled the score with his last goal for the club. James Ward-Prowse sweetened after a mistake in the visitors' defence in the 28th minute, and Kamaldeen Sulemane equalised in the 65th minute.
Three minutes from the start of the second half, Sulemane completed a pair of turnovers as Adam Armstrong scored his fourth (57) to move the table-toppers closer to victory in their last Premier League game. Firmino, who was substituted in the 72th minute, was no longer on the pitch to equalise, and those who did so were Cody Gakpo (73) after a brilliant team move and Jota (90) who completed a pair of his own. The lockout cycle was also James Milner's farewell game to the club, and he completed <> minutes in Jurgen Klopp's line-up.

Arsenal vs Wolves 0:5
In his farewell game to Arsenal with an expected move to Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, Granit Xhaka bid farewell to the Emirates Stadium in the best way possible. A snap pair of the Swiss (11th and 14th) gave the runners-up an early lead. Bukayo Saka (27) added the third with a wonderful performance and Gabriel Jesus scored the fourth (58). Jacob Kiwior added a debut goal in the 78th minute, ending the Gunners in style to a good season accompanied by a sense of missing out.

Kenny Tete (19) put the Cottagers ahead with a close-range strike after Willian's precise lift from the corner. Aleksandar Mitrovic, who received the famous FA Cup red card, also missed a penalty when David de Gea managed to parry his kick (25) from the white spot. Jadon Sancho (39) equalised with a kick from inside the sword before half-time. In the 55th minute, Bruno Fernandes converted and secured the Red Devils third place at the end of the season. Manor Solomon came on as a substitute in the 66th minute, perhaps in his last appearance for the visitors.

Just before the cup final against Manchester United and the Champions League final against Inter Milan, the Citizens suffered their first defeat in all competitions after 25 matches. Pep Guardiola rotated his squad for the pair of finals, and Brentford took advantage to complete a season double over the Blues with a late winning goal from Ethan Pinnock in the 85th minute.

Aston Villa vs Brighton 1:2
Given Tottenham's lead at Leeds, Unai Emery's side knew they needed to win to secure seventh place heading into the Conference League. The hosts took an early lead from a Douglas Luiz goal in the eighth minute, Ollie Watkins doubled with a kick in front of an empty goal in the 26th minute. Deniz Ondav levelled in the 38th minute, but did not prevent his opponent from the long-awaited ticket that kept Spurs out of European competition.
