Munich - The final battle for the Bundesliga championship could not have been wilder. Borussia Dortmund came out on top, but squandered all their dreams against Mainz 05, FC Bayern got the trophy in their hands with a last-minute win against 1. However, this small sensation was overshadowed by the big personnel quake at FC Bayern.
Due to the "overall development": FC Bayern parts ways with Oliver Kahn
With the final whistle blown in Cologne, reports were already circulating that FC Bayern was sacking board boss Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic. Shortly thereafter, there was an official confirmation from the club, followed by the news that the outgoing CFO of the record champions, Jan-Christian Dreesen, would take over Kahn's work.
"The decision to part ways with Oliver Kahn was anything but easy for the Supervisory Board. Nevertheless, due to the overall development, we have come to the decision to make a new appointment at the top of the board," President Hainer was quoted as saying in FC Bayern's statement. The fired board boss had probably already learned of his dismissal before the game against Cologne, and he had even been prohibited from traveling with the team to the cathedral city, according to his own statement.

"Decision was difficult for us": Salihamidzic no longer sporting director either
Speaking about Salihamidzic, Hainer said: "The course of this season after the winter break and different views on the future direction of our team have led us to agree with Hasan Salihamidzic on an immediate end to his tenure. It was a difficult decision for us." A replacement is still being sought for him, and according to several reports, there was a conversation with Max Eberl – before the game against Cologne.
Now, however, President Herbert Hainer and designated CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen will first answer journalists' questions together. We will be there for you from 11.30 a.m. in the live ticker!
