Munich – One sensational report follows another. It was only on Saturday evening, just minutes after the start of the championship celebrations, that FC Bayern Munich announced the separation of Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic. Now the next banger report is causing a stir. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is said to be on the verge of a comeback at the record champions.

Rummenigge was one of the faces of the club for several years and was chairman of the board for a total of 19 years. It was only two years ago that the now 67-year-old vacated the position at the top of the board for his successor Oliver Kahn. Kahn is now out, the position vacant again. However, Rummenigge will not take over his old role at FC Bayern. According to the "Bild am Sonntag", Rummenigge is to move into the supervisory board and support the Munich team in planning the squad for the coming season.
Shortly after winning the eleventh championship title in a row, Bayern announced the separation of Kahn and Salihamidzic on Saturday. Among other things, they are accused of a misguided personnel policy in the composition of the team. Kahn's successor will be the current CFO Jan-Christian Dreesen, a new sporting director is still being sought.
From 2002 onwards, Rummenigge was chairman of the board of the Munich club for 19 years and, together with club patron Uli Hoeneß, led the club to numerous successes. After his retirement from Bayern, he is currently still a member of the Executive Committee of the European Football Union (UEFA) as a representative of the club association ECA.
