VfB Forstinning slips into the relegation round of the Southeast Football League at the last moment due to a 1-2 defeat in Schwaig.

Schwaig/Forstinning – "Unbelievable. It's just unbelievable." Forstinning's chairman Arnold Schmidt tried to put into words what had just been seen and happened. But he simply did not succeed. With a goal in injury time of the last regular season game, VfB Forstinning lost to FC Sportfreunde Schwaig with 1:2 goals and thus crashed to a relegation rank for the first time. Not the most clever time.

Now VfB is fighting with FC Dingolfing, DJK Vornbach and ASV Dachau for a free place in the Landesliga. The relegation marathon kicks off next Thursday at 18:30 CET at Bezirksliga club FC Dingolfing.

Everything was set up for a great season strike at the Schwaiger facility: Around 500 fans gathered with free admission, warm-in children and refreshment stations provided a suitable setting. Before kick-off, FC Schwaig bid farewell to some players and assistant coach Florian Fink, before the home team looked more determined than Forstinning in the first few minutes of the game.

The last action must not happen, this is more cruel than cruel.

A deflected shot by Vincent Sommer almost found its way into the VfB net. But after this initial phase, coach Ivica Coric's team acted more courageously and conquered more of the game. And he had several excellent opportunities to take the lead: Ivan Bacak brought the ball to the corner from close range after a right-wing cross, but Schwaig's goalkeeper Franz Hornof parried with an incredible reflex.

Forstinning stayed on the trigger, repeatedly causing alarm in the Schwaiger penalty area. Antonijo Prgomet's attempt from the corner of the penalty area narrowly missed, another finish from Bacak in a very good position was too weak. Practically at the half-time whistle, Dimitar Kirchev missed the ball by a hair's breadth after a left cross from Kenan Numanovic.

In the second round, Forstinning should finally reap the rewards for his efforts. Bacak missed a top-class kick before a penalty caused by Leon Roth made it 0-1. Prgomet failed with his imperfectly kicked penalty to Hornof, but the follow-up shot landed in the net. Huge jubilation on the Forstinninger side, a point would certainly have been enough to stay in the league.

"We shouldn't have complained about a 0-2 defeat," said Schwaig's player-coach Benjamin Held after the game. But despite the best chances for Kirchev and substitute Mohamed Al Hosaini, it did not want to fall. Then the misfortune took its course. In the 80th minute, Forstinning caused an unnecessary penalty, which Raffael Ascher used with his 29th goal of the season to make it 1-1.

"After that, we had the momentum on our side," said FC head of department Wolfgang Lang. The home team got the second breath and caused paralyzing horror among the visitors in the 92nd minute of the game: After a throw-in, the deposit found Max Hellinger, who sent VfB into the valley of tears after a six-month injury break. "The last action must not happen, it's more cruel than cruel," said captain Korbinian Hollerieth, lamenting the VfB nightmare. Now comes the relegation. Arl
