The preparation did not go optimally. Nevertheless, Tina Steinl achieved a remarkable result at the 7th Imst Cycle Marathon - which she herself was surprised about.
Imst - Things don't always go according to plan. The cyclists Tina and Gerhard Steinl from Deutenhausen have had similar experiences this spring. A herniated disc "with extreme pain and total inability to move," according to an e-mail, put Gerhard Steinl out of action.
An operation was inevitable. Wife Tina Steinl was also unable to train as usual. Nevertheless, she had the desire to "finally stand at a starting line again," says the Deutenhausen native. At the 7th Imst Cycle Marathon she managed a class victory despite a less than optimal preparation. A result that Tina Steinl described in retrospect as "unbelievable".

It started with temperatures just above zero degrees. The Deutenhausen native tackled the so-called panorama circuit (70 kilometres/750 metres in altitude), which led from Imst via Nassereith, the Holzleitensattel to Mieming, Telfs, Stams, the Ötztaler Höhe and back to Imst. Right from the start, there was a lot of speed, with just under 40 km/h it went there. "I was in the first third of the field and got into the race well," said Tina Steinl.

At the top of the Holzleitensattel, however, heavy rain set in. The woman from Deutenhausen avoided too much risk in the downhill, drove "down at a moderate pace", which, however, led to her losing touch with her group. As the race progressed, Tina Steinl again found some comrades-in-arms who drove at a steady pace. In Roppen we went into the second longer climb. The athlete drove the way back to Imst "more or less alone".

She crossed the finish line with a time of 2:13:07 hours. In the women's 4 class, this meant a dominant victory for the rider from "Team Orbea Germany". In the overall standings, Tina Steinl finished seventh out of 25 classified women.
