Highlights: FC Bayern dismissed Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic after the final. Outgoing CFO Jan-Christian Dreesen has been appointed as sporting director. But who will be FC Bayern's sporting director in the future? Max Eberl has been in charge of RB Leipzig since January 2023. The 49-year-old has a contract until 2026 at the German club. FC Bayern were interested in EberL six years ago, when Borussia Mönchengladbach was reluctant.

Immediately after the wild Bundesliga final, the dismissal of Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic at FC Bayern was announced.

Munich - Shortly after the final whistle in Cologne, the news spread like wildfire: Despite the heart-stopping final in the Bundesliga and the good outcome for FC Bayern, the record champions dismissed Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic. According to his own statement, board boss Kahn had been forbidden to travel to Cologne, Brazzo probably only learned of his dismissal in the cathedral city and had a heated discussion with FCB president Herbert Hainer after the final whistle.

Kahn's successor has been chosen – but who will be FC Bayern's sporting director?

After the official confirmation of FC Bayern, the Munich team was also able to present a successor to Kahn in the form of outgoing CFO Jan-Christian Dreesen, but it is not yet clear who will lead the fortunes as sporting director in the future. In their search, however, the record champion is now apparently said to have an eye on Max Eberl.

Sky reported shortly after the sacking of Kahn and Salihamidzic that there had already been a meeting with RB Leipzig's managing director before the last Bundesliga game of the season in Cologne, and Bild confirmed that FC Bayern are very interested in the 49-year-old.

FC Bayern were already interested in Max Eberl six years ago

Eberl has only been in charge at RB Leipzig since January 2023, where he has a contract until 2026. But interest in the former FC Bayern player was already great years ago, when his long-time employer Borussia Mönchengladbach was reluctant. As the Bild writes, Hoeneß Eberl wanted to succeed Matthias Sammer in 2017, and there is even said to have been a conversation. In the end, Salihamidzic came, but he has now been dismissed. So is the way clear for Eberl?

To be honest, it seems relatively unlikely that FC Bayer will be able to lure Max Eberl to Munich. The reason: RB Leipzig has been looking for a replacement for Markus Krösche, who has moved to Frankfurt, for more than a year, and Eberl is also currently in charge of the squad upheaval at the Saxons. Those responsible at Leipzig will probably not let the 49-year-old go. (msb)
