Penzberg – Double stitched holds better. SV Krün's 4-1 home win against TSV Weyarn alone would have been enough to finalise their place in the league. But of course it's much nicer to reach it on your own. The 2-0 (2-0) victory of ESV Penzberg in the relegation round of the district class over FF Geretsried puts an equally conciliatory and important end to a season that at best deserves the grade "sufficient". "It could have been higher, but we're very satisfied," said interim coach and head of department Michael Scharbert, visibly relaxed.

Of course, the second half of the return series on the sidelines was not part of Scharbert's original plan. Rather, Klaus Fahrner had been intended as a longer-term coaching solution. But after only three points at the beginning of the relegation round, the alarm bells rang on Fischhaberstraße. "Then, of course, the discussion starts," Scharbert regretted. Fahrner himself recommended that the club try something different. And that's what he did. Without a driver, but with more train and people in training. "The players themselves realized that something had to happen." Scharbert classifies the victory in Krün as the key to success in the relegation round, although trembling had to be done until the last matchday.
As the ESV loosens up, so do the goals
The tension was noticeable to the railroad workers. But when the looseness came in the middle of the first half of the game, redemption was not far away. Tobias Szekeli completed a save from Kai Schumacher to open the scoring (35th). On top of that, Szekeli provided the assist to make it 2-0 through Bastian Schweiger just a few minutes later (41st). "We have finally managed to set an example through tackles, running commitment and aggressiveness," Scharbert said. The fact that Schweiger, Johannes Schroth and Valentino Stojadinovic did not adequately close the best opportunities after the change of sides was commented on by the ESV functionary with a slightly cynical attitude: "Our strength has come through again."
Coach search at ESV: Candidate list with few names
They regret Fahrner's resignation from the ESV. Now it needs another successor. The list of candidates has already been narrowed down to a few names. "Klaus has done an incredibly dedicated job with us," Scharbert emphasizes. The problem was that between the proclaimed reconstruction and the indispensability of fetching the necessary meters, "the balance was somewhat lacking". First of all, the relatively long round of the cup led to the absences of important players. Later, the relegation battle as the sole goal overwhelmed the relatively young team. "The relegation round was absolutely a hindrance for the young players," Scharbert underlines. This hurdle has been overcome since Saturday.
