Mauricio Pochettino was still out of a job since his dismissal from PSG on July 5, 2022. The Argentine will resume service for the 2023-2024 season at Chelsea as announced by the club on Monday lunchtime via a statement. He succeeded Frank Lampard. The Englishman was the Blues' third coach of the season after Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter. Pochettino is back in a league he knows as he coached Southampton in 2013-2014, then Tottenham between 2014 and 2019.

"The Argentine will begin his new role on July 1, 2023 with a two-year contract, with a club option for an additional year," the statement said.
"Mauricio's experience, standards of excellence, leadership qualities and character will serve the club well as we move forward. He is a winning coach, who has worked at the highest level, in several championships and languages. His ethics, tactical approach and commitment to development have made him an exceptional candidate," said Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, Chelsea's co-sporting directors.
Chelsea finished 12th in the Premier League and will not play in the European Cup next season. The Blues ended their season with a draw (1-1) against Newcastle on Sunday.
Pochettino will be accompanied by his assistants who have been loyal to him for many years, including Miguel D'Agostino.
