Lenggrieser SC: The relegation miracle fails to materialize

2023-05-29T22:00:52.388Z

Highlights: Lenggrieser SC beat SG Hausham 4-1 in the last game of the Kreisliga championship round A. Michael Demmel, Paul Laß, Simon Beck and Maxi Scheck scored for Lenggries. Peißenberg drew 1-1 with local rivals Ohlstadt in parallel games. LSC coach Stefan Simon: "It is pointless to look at where we have left us in front of the goal" The final point of the season is not enough for Peiüngenberg to escape relegation.

In the last game of the season, Lenggrieser SC delivers once again: But the 4-1 win against Hausham is not enough for relegation, because Peißenberg also draws 1-1.

Lenggries – That's what it's like when you no longer have your sporting fate in your own hands and are dependent on support: You do your own utmost and keep your fingers crossed for a miracle. The little possible thing that the Lenggrieser had in their own hands was a victory against the last of the Kreisliga championship round A, SG Hausham. The miracle should have occurred at the same time on the pitches in Habach and Miesbach: With the local hosts defeating TSV Peißenberg and SV Ohlstadt, who were positioned in front of the LSC. And so the fans, who had made the pilgrimage to the Isar Stadium in the best football weather, lured with one eye on the live ticker of the BFV app and the other on the pitch.

Michael Demmel takes a quick 2-0 lead

What could be seen there completely met the taste of the people of Isarwinkl. In the second LSC attack, Jakob Gerg was taken off his feet in the 16 by Hausham's keeper Stefan Zimmerhakl – penalty kick. Actually a case for Leo Gerg, who was unerring from eleven meters, but he had to retire shortly before kick-off due to illness. So Michael Demmel got to work and mercilessly executed under the bar. The centre-forward made it 2-0 – a precise 20-metre shot into the corner – followed just a few minutes later. A Lenggrieser Schützenfest was in the offing, because the Haushamer never gave the impression that they could stand up to the powerful game of the hosts. The follow-up goal was a nice individual effort, but also a coincidence: Simon Beck slotted the ball into the net after the header extension of a wide throw-in.

Still all paletti? And whether, because until half-time the Lenggries opponents Ohlstadt (0:2) and Peißenberg (0:1) had fallen behind in the parallel games. "Just the way we need it," exulted football boss Florian Schauer as he looked at his mobile phone.

Striker's gift from Maxi Scheck: A farewell goal

The fears that something could still burn in Lenggries were soon put to rest. After a brief slump at the end of the first half, the home side came out of the dressing room fully motivated – also bearing in mind their virtual second position in the table. Full-back Paul Laß scored his first goal of the season midway through the half-time when he nodded in a corner kick from ambush. It didn't matter that Jakob Gerg had shot another penalty kick too centrally at Zimmerhakl shortly before and had not used the first rebound with his head; Sebastian Dix put the second rebound on the crossbar.

The mood deteriorated somewhat when the news of the Peißenberg 1:1 made the rounds. "This is a bitter end to the season," admitted LSC chairman Georg Müller in the circle of the team. But there was still one highlight. In the last quarter of an hour, Maxi Scheck returned to his long-time place of work in the centre of the attack, and he said goodbye as befits a goalgetter: First he sprinted a long ball on the right wing, looked at Hausham's goalkeeper and slotted in to make it 4-1. After 184 competitive games and 109 goals for Lenggrieser first and second, a worthy end to a striker's career.

Stefan Schubert will coach the Kreisliga club in the future

The final point, which had been announced for some time, was then also set by coach Stefan Simon, assistant coach Georg Simon and goalkeeping coach Stefan Merz. After two years of service, they are leaving Lenggrieser SC. Stefan Simon found words of comfort and at the same time uplifting: "It is pointless to look for where we have left this one point that Peißenberg now has in front of us. Maybe in the previous week in Peißenberg, maybe already in the preliminary round. It's also not so important if we would have gotten a few more relegation games. Much more important is the team development in our two years together." This is enormous and at the same time holds further potential when Stefan Schubert takes over the Kreisliga club in a few weeks.
