Relegation without much drama: VfB Hallbergmoos says goodbye to the Landesliga after 1-2 defeat

2023-05-29T15:20:36.477Z

Highlights: VfB Hallbergmoos are relegated from the Bundesliga after a 1-2 (0-0) defeat in Kottern. At the same time, rival TSV 1860 Rosenheim won 2-0 against TSV Dachau 65. VfB end the season with an underground average of 0.44 points per game. The penultimate team in the league has won three times after the winter break. The league is currently held by Bayern Munich, Wolfsburg and Borussia Monchengladbach.

The hoped-for miracle failed to materialize. With a 1-2 (0-0) defeat in Kottern, VfB Hallbergmoos said goodbye to the Bayernliga.

Hallbergmoos - In the end, however, this defeat only hurt half as much: At the same time, rival TSV 1860 Rosenheim won 2-0 (1-0) against TSV Dachau 65. Thus, even a Hallbergmoos victory would not have been enough for the relegation. The protocol of the long-distance duel for the last relegation place with the last 90 Bayernliga minutes of VfB:

1st minute

It takes two goals for the relegation. Dachau has to score once to win in Rosenheim and Hallbergmoos once in Kottern. The starting position is clear.

11st minute

Lucas Gratt puts TSV 1860 in the lead. The snail race of the last two in the standings takes up Fahr. Since there are no television pictures from Rosenheim, it is not possible to assess how realistic a Dachau victory is.

30st minute

Hallbergmoos hold the 0-0 – and as is so often the case: VfB don't allow much defensively, but are far too harmless up front. Kottern has the first dangerous offensive moments. Preliminary conclusion: So a victory of the taillight is a long way off.

45st minute

Rosenheim leads 1-0, Hallbergmoos takes a lucky goalless draw into the dressing room. It still takes a lot of imagination for the miracle.

51st minute

After a steep pass, Christopher Duchardt runs up to VfB goalkeeper Fabian Müske, who is once again holding properly, and lobs the leather into the goal. It comes as it had to come.

54st minute

Michele Cosentino makes it 2-0 for Rosenheim against Dachau. That may have been the decision. Now, from an 1860 point of view, it's really just a matter of finishing the last half hour decently.

60st minute

Rosenheim have already scored their second shot on the crossbar in the second half – and VfB are well served with a 0-1 deficit.

85st minute

A blocked shot by Fabian Diranko lands in the hands of substitute Tobias Krause, who makes a hook and coolly slides in to equalise for VfB. With eight goals this season, Krause is the club's best attacker. No glory for the centre-forwards in the squad. Offensively, the pillars are missing.

89st minute

Significant conclusion: Efforts from Hallbergmoos are on the verge of winning a lucky point and then ruin the whole thing: After an unnecessary foul, there is a penalty, which Kottern uses to win. Deserved!

90st minute

It's over, it's over, it's over! Rosenheim has a six-point lead over Hallbergmoos – and that's okay. The penultimate team has won three times after the winter break, VfB not once. Hallbergmoos ends the season with an underground average of 0.44 points per game. You will have to improve a lot in order to play at the top of the national league.
