Still little known to the general public, Holger Rune was one of the sensations of the last edition of Roland-Garros. The 2019 junior tournament winner, who had never been past a Grand Slam round before, reached the quarter-finals at the age of 19, before surrendering to eventual finalist Casper Ruud. Twelve months later, he is now a very serious outsider.

The Dane has grown since then, with a dazzling last autumn and two titles, including the one won at the Masters 1000 in Paris where he beat five players in the top 10, including a certain Novak Djokovic in the final. In four tournaments on clay this spring, he reached the final three times (Monte Carlo, Munich and Rome) and won once (Munich) for a record of thirteen wins against three losses.
