A hell of a sequence and a lot of emotion. Lucas Pouille qualified Sunday for the second round of Roland-Garros by beating Austrian Jurij Rodionov (134th in the world) 6-2, 6-4, 6-3, a performance he had not accomplished for nearly four years in a Grand Slam tournament, at the US Open 2019.

After winning the match ball, he raised his arms in the air and clenched his fists, sticking out his tongue and widening his eyes like an All Black during the haka. Then after shaking hands with Rodionov, he returned to sing the Marseillaise with the audience, in the center of court 14 which succeeds him so well.

It was a moment that I wanted to share with them, when they started singing the Marseillaise at the end of the match, and wanted to stay on the court as long as possible, to live these emotions, and enjoy every minute by their side. It was just crazy," he explained, hoping to continue playing on the 14th.
