Throughout the past year, the Beitar Jerusalem Club has fulfilled thousands of dreams for children who wanted to be part of the club. Our players have been part of extensive community activity throughout the year, with one incident that is simply heartbreaking.

The late Raphael Matan Shloche, a pure and amazing 7-year-old boy, contracted cancer and fought it with all his might. Rafael Matan became an inseparable part of Beitar. The team's players contacted him, tried to encourage him and his family, came to his home and he even stayed at the home of captain Ofir Krief. One of the most important things the team knew had to happen was that the trophy would go to Rafael, no matter what.

Over the past week, Rafael has undergone difficult actions in order to stay alive. He struggles like a hero with family members by his side, not giving up, giving him a good feeling until the end. Last Thursday, immediately after winning the State Cup, captain Ofir Krief, together with Uri Dahan and Meir Harush, arrived at Shaare Zedek Hospital to visit Rafael Matan. The club fulfilled his dream and came to him with the trophy, and saw how with the rest of his strength he was excited and happy. Pain and happiness mixed into an unforgettable moment and a powerful and painful moment.

Throughout the last season, Beitar accompanied Raphael the angel, came to his home, kept in touch and mostly prayed for a change in the evil of the decree. The beloved Raphael Matan passed away last night, leaving behind his parents David and Racheli, and brothers Lishi, Shoham and Shahar. His funeral took place last night, and the grieving family is sitting shiva at 7 Harav Kadoorie Street, Har Homa. May his memory be blessed.
