The World Taekwondo Championships, held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, opened on Monday with disappointment for the Israeli delegation after Nimrod Kravitsky was eliminated in the second round.
Kravitsky, the bronze medalist from last year's European Championships, competing in the Olympic 68kg category, opened the day against a Mongolian opponent, who made life difficult for the Israeli and after a close battle, secured the victory after 0:2.
In the next match, Kravitsky, ranked tenth in the world, met Mexican Iker Garcia, the vice-champion of the Pan American Games, surrendered to him 2:1 and was eliminated early from the rest of the championship.
