Anzing – From Libya to Anzing: This is the path taken by Boubekeur Zermani, who is known to everyone in handball circles as "Bob". The 57-year-old is currently coaching the Libyan U21 national team. From 1 July at the latest, however, Bob Zermani will take over the Bayernliga relegated SV Anzing and thus succeed Kay Hoffmann and Hubert Müller. This has now been confirmed by the latter, who will remain with the SVA as sporting director and was thus in charge of the search for a coach.

Bob Zermani was one of three candidates with whom the Anzingers held talks, Müller reports. "He's an internationally experienced coach. That's exactly the kind of person we were looking for." Born in Algeria, he was a goalkeeper during his playing days and was a member of the national team of his home country. As a coach, the german, French and Arabic-speaking sports teacher has not only coached various national selections in North Africa and the Middle East. Most recently, he was also responsible for the Bayernliga club TG Landshut from May 2022 until last January.

While the Lower Bavarians were able to stay in the fourth-highest division this season, the Lions missed out on staying in the league by a razor-thin margin. For them, it's now back to the national league, where they are aiming for immediate promotion under the new coach, says Müller. "Our ambition is to get back into the Bayernliga," emphasised the SVA's sporting director.

The Anzingers can tackle this goal with a largely unchanged squad. As things stand at present, only the veterans Julian Ruckdäschel and Willi Bobach will stop. On the other hand, a new signing has already been confirmed in backroom Philipp Schnabel, who made his debut for the Lions in the penultimate game of the season.

After a long and exhausting season, the relegated team has now sent its players into the break. On June 20, the preparation for the new season will start again. According to Hubert Müller, it is still uncertain whether Bob Zermani will be present.

After all, it could be that the coach will qualify for the World Cup with the Libyan U21 national team during this period. In this case, the sports teacher, who lives in Munich, will not start until July 1 in Anzing.

According to Hubert Müller, Bob Zermani has the A-license as a coach. In addition, he is currently in the process of completing an international coach training course from the International Handball Federation IHF.

After the Whitsun holidays, Boubekeur Zermani will be officially introduced as the new Lions coach, the sporting director announced. In addition, they also want to present another new signing.
