Munich – FC Bayern can celebrate again at the end and are German champions for the eleventh time in a row. Borussia Dortmund were closer to the title than they had been for a long time and had to leave the trophy they thought was safe to the Munich team. Serge Gnabry then mocked BVB in the form of a special gesture, but Leon Goretzka quickly deleted the photo.

FC Bayern celebrates championship with party marathon – BVB mocked with song in the dressing room
Bayern's jubilation knew no bounds after the last-minute championship title. First, after the victory in Cologne, the stars were celebrated exuberantly by the fans in the corner, then it continued in the dressing room. "Who will be German champion, BVB Borussia," sang the players in the catacombs – a nasty tip towards BVB. Dortmund had relinquished the lead in the table with a 2-2 draw against Mainz on the last matchday.
But that's not all: On the way home, there was a fuss about a celebration video from the bus in which FC Bayern mocked the opponent. Even at the championship celebration on the town hall balcony at Munich's Marienplatz, the players danced and sang happily and cheerfully after the party night. During the celebrations, even the championship trophy was broken, as Joshua Kimmich explained. His buddy Serge Gnabry did not miss the opportunity to mock the defeated rival Borussia Dortmund with a special gesture – the action has a history.

Gnabry taunts BVB with special gesture – Goretzka deletes photo again
It's about an Instagram photo of Leon Goretzka, which has since been deleted. On it, Gnabry makes a gesture with his left eye closed, and he has the index finger and thumb of his right hand on his open right eye. With his free left hand, Gnabry points towards the camera.
Attentive Bundesliga observers should know immediately to whom this gesture could be addressed. We're talking about Dortmund's Karim Adeyemi. The ex-Bayern youth player celebrated in this pose during Dortmund's 2-0 win over Leverkusen on 29 January. Bayern had only drawn 18-1 with Frankfurt on Matchday 1.

At the time, however, Adeyemi's action was by no means to be understood as an announcement in the title fight towards Munich. Rather, the greeting, which refers to an anime series, went to Adeyemi's buddy Dominik Szoboszlai of RB Leipzig. The two played together for RB Salzburg in 2020 and have been friends ever since.

Szoboszlai returned the favor weeks later with the same gesture when he scored the 3-1 win for Leipzig against Bayern on the penultimate matchday – and thus gave Dortmund the championship. The Hungarian's message to Adeyemi was clear: 'Get the championship trophy with BVB, buddy'.

A nice gesture between Szoboszlai and Adeyemi, which has apparently provided a dash of extra motivation for the irritated Bayern stars around Gnabry. The result was the championship title, which could no longer prevent the dismissals of Hasan Salihamidzic and Oliver Kahn, against whom Uli Hoeneß raises serious allegations. (ck)
