TSV Eintracht Karlsfeld ends the Landesliga season in third place - so no promotion to the Bayernliga. But not a broken leg either.
Karlsfeld – At half-time, a door opened that was actually closed for TSV Eintracht Karlsfeld. Coach Jay Alkan had put the chance of promotion to the Bayernliga at ten percent, but his team led 2-0 in the final game of the season at TSV Grünwald – and the rivals played for Eintracht. But because Traunstein still got the corner, the Karlsfelder were "only" third despite their 6-0 success in Grünwald. Disappointment? Wrong!
"We didn't expect to get another chance. We just wanted to finish the season well. We are absolutely disappointed. The atmosphere is great," said coach Alkan after the final whistle.
That these are not empty words, Alkan showed with his line-up. He tested a back three on the last matchday – and had to admit that this decision was not his best this season. While the Karlsfelder did not find their game, the Grünwalder had the first top-class goal of the game with a post hit. Alkane ended the experiment after 20 minutes.
With the return to the usual back four, Eintracht's dominance began. And when Fitim Raqi finished off a remarkable move over Kubilay Celik and Dominik Schäffer (27th), the visitors turned onto the road to victory. Celik made it 2-0 just four minutes later – at the same time the score at half-time. "I said to the guys that it worked great with the back three. We looked at each other and everyone laughed," Alkan said. Since Traunstein did not lead in Geretsried at that time, Eintracht was in the promotion relegation place in the blitz table.
So Eintracht had something to lose at that point. And: "We've already given away one or two match points," Alkan reminded. But this time, his players pulled through. Schäffer (67'), Celik (73') and Leon Ritter (76') and Celik with his third goal (77') ensured clear conditions within ten minutes. The score remained 6-0. The fact that Traunstein won 1-0 in Geretsried and the Karlsfelder were "only" third did not dampen the mood. "We've had a very decent season. Promotion was never the goal, so we can be satisfied," said Alkan. He added: "We tasted blood. Everyone is eager for the coming season and I'm already looking forward to preparing." In the 2023/24 season, the Karlsfelder want to play a good role again.
