The football world has not remained indifferent to Israel's youth team, which continues to make history and break wintry records. Tuesday night's 0-1 victory over Uzbekistan with a goal by Anan Halaili, in the 97th minute, drew reactions and compliments from around the globe.
"No, this is not a replay of the game against Jaffa, in which Israel scored a dramatic winning goal that gave them their ticket to the final eight. That goal has already set up a historic achievement for Israel, but it was not satisfied with being an absentee in the eighth final, and shows that it is becoming a rising force in football," the FIFA website wrote. "This time the tears of joy came 7 minutes into extra time. Anan Halaili's goal was the reward for Israel's initiating and attacking football in the final part of the game. This is a continuation of the legendary story of Israel that began from the moment it set foot on Argentine soil. From the first training session in Buenos Aires, she felt at home. Now, with a sweet taste in her mouth, she's waiting to know who her opponent will be in the quarterfinals."

"This is a historic World Cup for Israel, which came here after a controversial storm over Indonesia's refusal to host it. At the end of the day, they celebrate big," Argentine television said. "Israel has become one big party. In Tel Aviv, in Jerusalem. Their team has never achieved such a feat. They deserved to go up because they showed a high level, especially winning."

A Spanish journalist covering the World Cup praised Dor Turgeman, who continues to garner compliments at the tournament. "The Israeli team presses like crazy throughout the tournament. Dor Turgeman is the next Shawn Weissman, easily. He has strengths, a good exit from the place, Dribble. He knows how to play with his back to the goal. Great talent."
Another scout wrote of Turgeman: "He is a very good striker. He fights for every ball, loves contact with opposing players and plays well with his back to goal, thanks to his dribble and power. He is the player to pay attention to in the Israeli team."
