FC Wang shows fighting heart and remains in the A-Class. In the 3-2 win against VfB Hallbergmoos III, the game-winning goal was scored shortly before the end.
Wang/Hallbergmoos – After a relegation duel in Berglern that was not always high-class, but all the more dramatic, the footballers of FC Wang can celebrate. With a 3-2 (1-2) victory over VfB Hallbergmoos III, they remain in the A-Class, while their opponents have to accept the bitter relegation to the B-Class.
VfB Hallbergmoos III take the lead twice
In the first few minutes, the Wanger determined the action, came in the fourth minute also to the first chance. After that, however, VfB Hallbergmoos III became stronger, Dieter Weber missed the first good opportunity to finish after seven minutes, but shortly afterwards he netted with a dream shot from 18 meters to make it 1-0 (12th). However, the opponent was not shocked by this at all – on the contrary. FCW fought back and after 17 minutes Christian Kohn suddenly appeared completely free in the Hallbergmoos penalty area. He kept his cool and scored the equaliser. This was followed by a midfield skirmish of the more boring kind. The VfB third tried again and again over the outside, but without approaching the penalty area dangerously. On the other hand, they had to cope with an injury shock: player-coach Fabian Schum left the field after about half an hour with an injury, Tobias Kopp came in for him. In the closing stages of the first half, both teams stepped on the gas again. While Wang missed a good free-kick opportunity, Hallbergmoos III set a strong counterattack shortly before the half-time whistle: Samuel Greger refined it to give his team a 2-1 lead (44th).

The initial phase of the second period also belonged to the third team of the Bayernliga relegated. Andreas Simmerl and Tobias Kopp tried to close deals, without success. In the 62nd minute, the equaliser almost fell: Patrick Müller shot at the VfB goal from close range, but keeper Maximilian Böhme prevented worse with a brilliant save. A little later, however, he was powerless: Lukas Köhler got to the ball in the penalty area and made it 2-2 for FC Wang (71st).
FC Wang: There's no stopping them after the final whistle
The Hallbergmoos team then stepped on the gas, and the game also became more heated. The team from the southern district was unable to convert two good free-kick opportunities, but FC Wang counterattacked in the 85th minute: Patrick Müller kept his nerve and completed the 3-2 lead. Of course, it wasn't over yet, and VfB tried everything again. But whether free kicks or corners, the equaliser just didn't want to fall.
After the final whistle, the jubilation of the Wangers knew no bounds: All the players stormed onto the field and celebrated together with their fans in Bergler. Player-coach Robert Wanka, who was unable to help on the pitch due to his cruciate ligament rupture, was mightily relieved: "Of course we talked about the fact that relegation wouldn't be so bad. But now there is a huge joy that we prevented him." Wanka emphasized the great attitude of his troops. "Today everyone wanted to participate, and I was able to call on a squad of 18 men." Therefore, he had expected that his Wanger had a good chance of staying in the league. "I also think that our victory is deserved after the course of the game. We had the clearer chances." On the Hallbergmoos side, Fabian Schum was disappointed: "Unfortunately, we had a lot of retirements, but a success would have been possible." Both teams had their phases: "Normally, a game like this ends in a draw. Unfortunately, FC Wang proved to be more effective in the end." BY BERND HEINZINGER
