After Mohammed Abu Fani made it clear to the heads of Maccabi Haifa that he wanted to leave and asked them not to stand in his way, following the refusal of the champions to an upgraded offer submitted by Hungarian side Ferencváros, further talks were held between the heads of Ferencváros and those of Maccabi Haifa and the gaps narrowed.
The Hungarians have submitted a third and renewed bid whereby the Greens could receive up to €1.5 million for Abu Fani if Ferencváros qualifies for the European group stage. Maccabi Haifa have softened on their initial demand to accept Abu Fani's full release clause of €2 million, but they do demand from the Hungarians that the amount will not depend on bonuses of any kind, so that they will immediately receive €1.5 million for the midfielder.

However, Maccabi Haifa do demand an additional fee from Ferencváros in case the Hungarians qualify for the European group stage, with the amount depending on the factory to which the team qualifies, as well as to include in the agreement a percentage of a future sale.
As stated, Abu Fani conveyed a message to the heads of Maccabi Haifa stating that he wished not to prevent his move, and the negotiations continued. Sources familiar with the details clarified that the discrepancies amounted to about 150,<> euros. The midfielder has agreed his terms with the Hungarians and will sign immediately for Ferencváros if an agreement is reached between the clubs.
