Despite winning the championship trophy on Saturday in Cologne, there were not only winners at FC Bayern. It was a bitter day, especially for Leon Goretzka.

Cologne/Munich – At FC Bayern Munich, the jubilation after Jamal Musiala's late goal in the 2-1 win in Cologne knew no bounds. No wonder, he surprisingly gave the Munich team their eleventh championship in a row. But one Bayern player left the joy of his colleagues untouched: Leon Goretzka. He initially sat on the bench after the game and stared into space. Videos circulating on Twitter are now opening up further perspectives on the situation.

Ecstatic jubilation: after Musiala's winning goal, all dams broke at Bayern - except for Goretzka

The film was filmed from the back straight in Cologne's Rheinenergiestadion. It shows the scenes around the players and coaches around the Munich bench during and immediately after Jamal Musiala's golden goal.

While the entire Bayern team jumps up in the clip and frenetically celebrates Musiala's late winning goal, Goretzka remains very calm – as the only Munich player. The joy of his comrades knows no stopping, they lie in each other's arms or rush in full sprint after the match winner in the direction of their own fan block.

Bayern's late winning goal in Cologne left Goretzka cold

The 28-year-old, on the other hand, as the clip shows, also gets up from his place on the reserve bench and takes a few steps. However, he remains alone and directly in front of the bank. All he does is grab a water bottle lying on the floor.

However, there is no sign of fits of jubilation. Judging by the video, the championship that Bayern thought they had lost, which Bayern made almost clear at that moment, seems to leave him largely cold at the moment after Musiala's goal.

Goretzka's cool reaction after Bayern's winning goal in the video:

Goretzka was first substituted in Bayern's win in Cologne and after only 14 minutes

One possible reason for Goretzka's frustration is that the Germany international was not in the starting line-up in the all-important game. He then came into the game after 71 minutes for Ryan Gravenberch, who had previously been given preference by coach Thomas Tuchel. But after Cologne had scored the equaliser shortly afterwards, but Bayern desperately needed a win for the championship, Tuchel reacted – with consequences for Goretzka.

The 28-year-old's short working day ended after just 14 minutes when Mathys Tel came on as a substitute. The striker was supposed to force Bayern's success – with success. Jamal Musiala, who came into the game at the same time, scored the much-acclaimed winning goal in the 89th minute.

Goretzka also left the Bayern celebrations prematurely after the game

But that's not all: Goretzka also left the team's jubilation after the game in the middle of the Cologne pitch before the final speech was even over.

The team swore in one last time after winning the championship, but the national player seemed to lack access to the circle. While his comrades could hardly wait to celebrate with the fans who had travelled with him, he trudged away with his head hanging – in the opposite direction to the Bayern fan block.

Bayern coach Tuchel justified "horror decision" against Goretzka with fight for championship

His coach later showed understanding for Goretzka's mood at the press conference: "I'm sorry for Leon. It was, of course, a horror decision against him." But it was "about the German championship", Tuchel justified the substitution. "As a coach, you can't take into account how he feels at this moment."

He sympathized with Goretzka and asked him to apologize. But Tuchel "could at that moment and as a coach was no longer allowed to take into account how he feels." The decision was purely tactical in nature. "That's when it hit him," said the Bayern coach after the game.

In the meantime, however, Goretzka's mood has apparently improved. On Instagram, he fooled around with Bayern colleague Thomas Müller after winning the title. (wuc)
