The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) filed a complaint with FIFA on Wednesday after defender Robert Renan was subjected to a racist attack on social media following his suspension in the 1-4 quarter-final victory over Tunisia. Harsh insults were also directed at Renan when he left the field at Ciudad de la Plata Stadium in Argentina.
The actor, who was ejected after 45 minutes, was also subjected to racism on social media. After the game, Renan shared screenshots of racist messages he received on Instagram. "The profiles have already been seized by the FA and will be sent to the local courts and FIFA with the request for punishment," the Brazilian FA said. "We strongly condemn any form of discriminatory action in football and will no longer tolerate such incidents in sport," it said.
