16-year-old Mira Andreeva stunned the tennis world on Thursday by becoming the youngest player since 2005 to reach the third round at Roland Garros. The remarkable Russian talent made it through qualifying, playing a total of five matches and in the second round had no trouble beating local Diane Parry 1-6, 2-6, in a match that lasted only one hour and 17 minutes.
In doing so, she became the youngest player to reach the third round of Roland Garros clay since 2005, becoming only the seventh player in the last two decades to enter the third round in Paris before she turned 17. She is the first in 14 years on a distinguished list that includes Martina Hingis, Anna Kournikova and Serena Williams.
When these are Andreeva's dreams in the sky: "The dream? I know Novak Djokovic has won 22 Grand Slams, so I want to win 25, if that's possible," the very confident teenager said.

However, Andreeva will try to keep her feet on the ground, adding: "As my coach says, I must not act like a diva, remain humble all the time. I don't think I've had much success so far. I didn't win any tournaments. I'm just playing, it's my first third round at Roland Garros."
