FC Bayern are looking for a successor to the sacked Hasan Salihamidzic. The list of candidates at a glance.

Munich – Immediately after winning the league title, which was no longer thought possible, FC Bayern made tabula rasa in the boardroom, Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic were dismissed. With Jan-Christian Dreesen, a successor to Kahn was directly appointed as Chairman of the Executive Board. Salihamidzic's post is vacant. The Bavarians have to look for a Brazzo successor – the list of candidates is prominently occupied.

Hasan Salihamidzic
Born:January 1, 1977 (age 46), Jablanica, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Position at FC Bayern:Sporting Director (2020-2023), Sporting Director (2017-2020)
Matches for FC Bayern:365 games (47 goals, 53 assists)

Salihamdizic dismissed at FC Bayern: Who will be Brazzo's successor?

In contrast to Oliver Kahn, who left in discord, the separation from Hasan Salihamidzic was amicable. Brazzo, known as the little boy, wants to remain a friend of FC Bayern and was allowed to say goodbye to the team in an emotional farewell speech.

The ex-professional became sporting director at FC Bayern in the summer of 2017 and was promoted to sporting director three years later. Under his leadership, the Munich team celebrated great successes, especially the treble in 2020. However, the 46-year-old Bosnian often cut an unfortunate figure in public and was criticized for his personnel decisions - in addition, the statistics show the deep red transfer balance of the ex-Bayern boss.

Schweinsteiger, Robben, Eberl: FC Bayern are looking for Brazzo successor

So there is a lot of work and potential for improvement ahead of the new strong man in the sporting field. President Herbert Hainer has already announced "a great caliber" as Brazzo's successor. How big remains to be seen. We summarize the list of candidates in an overview:

Max Eberl (Managing Director RB Leipzig) – the preferred candidate

Max Eberl was already in talks with FC Bayern some time ago – but somehow the timing never seems to be right. The ex-Gladbach player only signed a long-term contract until 2026 with Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig at the end of last year. However, Eberl "definitely can't bring about a departure from Leipzig after just six months," said FCB legend Lothar Matthäus: "Then he'll be down with pretty much everyone in the football industry."

As a native of Lower Bavaria and former FCB youth player (a Bundesliga game for the professionals), Eberl would fit perfectly into the profile. There was even apparently a meeting between FC Bayern and Eberl.

Markus Krösche (sporting director Eintracht Frankfurt) – the alternative

If it doesn't work out with Eberl, Markus Krösche would be an alternative as Brazzo's successor. Matthäus brought the name Krösche – currently sporting director at Eintracht Frankfurt – into play at Sky: "He would be a suitable man who comes from football, who has a good network, who has worked successfully – both in Leipzig and now in Frankfurt." However, Matthäus noted that FC Bayern was "perhaps a size too big" for Krösche.

As Sport1 wants to know, Krösche has already committed himself internally to Eintracht Frankfurt, there should be no contact with FC Bayern. In addition, according to the report, the 42-year-old does not have a release clause for his contract, which runs until 2025. To do this, Krösche currently has to manage the upheaval at Eintracht, find a new coach in the summer and probably replace some players. FCB president Hainer described him on Sunday as a "very, very good sporting director".

Michael Reschke (Head of European Football CAA Stellar) – the interim solution

The former technical director of FC Bayern (2014-2017) would be the interim solution. Michael Reschke is currently Head of European Football at the internationally renowned player agent agency CAA Stellar. The 65-year-old is satisfied with his job, but a Bayern comeback is not out of the question.

According to tz information, there are internal mind games about Reschke. A 3-month solution for the summer transfer period would be conceivable. Similar to Jörg Schmadtke in Liverpool as a transfer advisor to Jürgen Klopp. "I think FC Bayern is looking for a big and long-term solution," Reschke told the German Press Agency. A return to Munich is "currently not an issue" for him.

Michael Reschke
Born:29 September 1957 (age 65 years), Frechen
Training:German Sport University Cologne
Position:Head of European Football CAA Stellar
At FC Bayern:Technical Director from 2014 to 2017

Arjen Robben – Bayern's Wembley hero

The Wembley hero ended his active career almost two years ago. Arjen Robben returned to FC Bayern around the last home game of the season against Leipzig and was conspicuously present. There were rumours of Robben as a possible successor to Salihamidzic.

The 39-year-old is still held in high esteem by fans and bosses, is considered a strong communicator and could unite the club. "He has everything you need. He carries the "Mia san mia" gene like no other. He is a real role model. He is very strong communicatively. That's where FC Bayern are lacking," said Sky reporter Uli Köhler, explaining the advantages of Robben, who said goodbye to FC Bayern four years ago and then rejoined his hometown club FC Groningen. However, Dutchman has no experience in management positions.

Arjen Robben
Born:23 January 1984 in Bedum (Netherlands)
Professional stations:FC Groningen, PSV Eindhoven, FC Chelsea, Real Madrid, FC Bayern, FC Groningen
Competitive matches for FC Bayern:309 (144 goals, 101 assists)
Internationals:96 for the Netherlands (37 goals)

Bastian Schweinsteiger – the club icon

The dream of many Bayern fans: Bastian Schweinsteiger as Brazzo successor could create a spirit of optimism in the whole club after the chaos season. As an ARD expert at the World Cup, the club icon indicated with his razor-sharp analysis of the German national team that he recognizes the problems and can name them. FCB patron Uli Hoeneß had already given Schweinsteiger a job guarantee in March just in case – FC Bayern is probably waiting for a signal from Schweinsteiger.

"I'm convinced that Bastian Schweinsteiger's doors will open wide at FC Bayern," said the honorary president as a talk guest of the Abendzeitung in Munich. The 38-year-old has made an "incredible development in personality". "He used to be a rascal, a good kicker, but with a lot of fluff. Now he is a seasoned man, a man of the world. He was in America, he was in Manchester," said the 71-year-old. However, Schweinsteiger enjoys family life as a privateer and recently became a father for the third time.

Bastian Schweinsteiger
Age:38 years (August 1, 1984)
Matches for FC Bayern:342
Greatest successes:2014 World Cup winner, Champions League winner, Europa League winner, 8x German champion, 7x DFB Cup winner

Brazzo successor? Hoeneß wants to wait until Christmas if necessary

In any case, the Bayern bosses do not seem to have time pressure in their search for the Brazzo successor. "We've had something like this before," said Dreesen, recalling 2016, when Matthias Sammer left FC Bayern for health reasons. It took more than a year for the novice manager Salihamidzic to be presented as a solution by Hoeneß and Rummenigge.

"We didn't have a sporting director or sporting director in the team for quite a while. During that time, I worked very intensively with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on the transfer business," said Dreesen. According to Hoeneß, without whom nothing will be decided in the new, old Bayern world, the record champions want to take their time until Christmas if necessary. The first steps are likely to be set at the supervisory board meeting at FC Bayern. (ck)
