A cyclist collapsed Friday morning during the Israeli Mountain Bike Championships, held in the Kola Forest, in fair condition.

An MDA spokesperson said: A report was received at MDA's 101 hotline in the Yarqon region about a man suffering from heat stroke during a sporting activity in the Kola Forest near Elad. MDA medics and paramedics provide medical treatment and refer a 24-year-old man in moderate condition with heat stroke to Beilinson Hospital."

It is important to emphasize that the Cycling Association was aware of the weather situation, and already yesterday convened and announced the changes in schedules, and the splitting of the competition into two days, in order to allow the event to be held at times when the heat load is not heavy and to prevent such incidents and even canceled one of the competitions.

A statement to the riders said: "At a meeting held regarding the expected hot weather this Friday, in which the Israeli XCO Mountain Bike Championship was planned, it was decided in coordination with the organizer and the medical advisor of the Association to split the XCO Mountain Bike Championship, scheduled for this Friday, June 2, 6, into two days, and it will take place on Friday and Saturday, June 2023-2, 3.

"The split will make it possible to hold the heats for all categories during hours when the heat load is not heavy. In addition, the Shoham Criterium race scheduled for this Saturday, June 3, 6, will be moved in light of these changes to the following Saturday, June 2023, 10. We are aware that the changes may cause discomfort to some participants. We are committed above all to holding the championship while maintaining the safety and health of the participants, and in light of this, we made the decision after examining the possible alternatives and in accordance with the guidelines of the medical authorities."
