The next international matches of the German national team are coming up. National coach Hansi Flick announces the DFB squad.
Frankfurt – Even though the season in Germany is coming to an end, the German national football team still has three friendly matches to play in June. Hansi Flick's DFB team will face Ukraine (12 June), Poland (16 June) and Colombia (20 June) to prepare for next year's European Championship. On Friday (2 June), the national coach will announce the squad for these upcoming friendlies at the end of the season.

Gundogan and Rüdiger return to the DFB squad
This year, the DFB went into the first two games of the year against Peru and Belgium in March. While there was a 2-0 victory against the South Americans, the German national team lost the endurance test against Belgium 2-3. Although there will be no more competitive matches until the start of Euro 2024 in Germany, the naked results also count for coach Hansi Flick after the disappointing 2022 World Cup.
As announced in March, veteran Thomas Müller of FC Bayern, who recently caused laughter in a video with teammate Leon Goretzka, will not be nominated for the upcoming test tasks. This is not necessarily synonymous with a DFB exit of the offensive player, but it is a small tendency. The two key players Ilkay Gündogan from Manchester City and Antonio Rüdiger from Real Madrid will probably be part of the squad again. However, Gundogan will not join the national team until after the match against Ukraine, as he will face Inter Milan (10 June) and Robin Gosens in the Champions League final.

DFB's 1000th match against Ukraine
Whether Leroy Sané and Niklas Süle will be part of the German national team squad is still uncertain. After the poor World Cup in Qatar, Flick did without both players in March. Other players were allowed to make their debuts in the DFB jersey at the same time, including Marius Wolf, who even set up a goal against Peru. A renewed consideration by the national coach is considered likely.
The test match against Ukraine in Bremen is also the 1000th international match in the history of the DFB. The historic anniversary is to be refined with a victory. The U21s also announced the squad for their upcoming fixtures today. (jsk)
