A few seconds after the final whistle in the quarterfinals of the World Cup, social networks and sports websites around the world celebrated Israel's great victory over the soccer superpower of Brazil, with some paying tribute to Dor Turgeman, the scorer of the victory goal.
On the ComutriColor website, they were delighted and wrote in the headline: "Israel knocked Brazil out of the World Cup in Jogo Bonito style." Turgeman's cover read 'Goal a la Messi to qualify', and below they directed their users to watch Turgeman's goal: "Watch a typical move by the 'flea' and Cristiano Ronaldo's celebrations with a goal that eliminated the Brazilians."
The achievement even reached Taiwan, where TaiwanNews chose the headline: "Israel stunned Brazil." Even in Indonesia, the country where the tournament was originally supposed to take place, the victory was not ignored and the CNNINDONESIA website posted a laconic news and announced that Israel was the first country in the semifinals.
And what is happening in Brazil itself? Veja's website tried to digest the impeachment: "The dream has been postponed! On an uninspiring afternoon, Brazil surrendered to Israel in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup 3-2. The team finishes the tournament held in Argentina with three wins and two losses. The Israeli team made history with its first ever appearance."
