FC Porto won the 19th Portuguese Cup in its history by beating Sporting Braga (2-0) in the final played on Sunday at the Jamor National Stadium, near Lisbon. The club from the north of Portugal won by first benefiting from a goal against his side André Horta (53rd) before the Portuguese international Otavio made the break at the end of the match (81st).
The Dragons added the first double of cups in their history to their record after winning the Portuguese League Cup in January against Sporting Portugal (2-0).
Behind Benfica in the league
Winner of the Portuguese Cup last season, the team coached by Sergio Conceiçao retained its title, but failed to achieve the cup-championship double as it had managed to do in the previous year. In the league, Porto finished in second position, two points behind Benfica Lisbon, crowned champions of Portugal for the 38th time in their history. A ranking that nevertheless offered direct qualification in the Champions League to the Dragons.
For its part, Sporting Braga completed the podium of the Portuguese league and will compete in the qualifying rounds of the C1.
