After his spectacular goal against Brazil that lifted the Israeli national team to the semifinals of the World Cup on Saturday, Maccabi Tel Aviv admits that they missed Dor Turgeman last season. A club source said: "We should have enjoyed the qualities of Dor a lot more. He deserved a lot more minutes. It's a lost season for him and we didn't know how to take advantage of what was in his hand either."
Maccabi Tel Aviv players added: "Dor made goals like this in training in Kiryat Shalom as well. He didn't surprise anyone with that goal."

Turgeman played only 159 league minutes in total all of last season. Neither Vladen Ivić nor Aitor Karanka took advantage of the striker's talent. Ivić admitted that he was an excellent player and claimed that although he hardly allowed him to play, he was convinced that his future was bright. Karanka gave more, but also not enough. In the semi-finals of the Israel State Cup, he even changed formations when Eran Zahavi was injured and did not put Turgeman in his place in the game against Beitar Jerusalem.
Although he did not rest and did not get enough minutes, Turgeman is expected to sign a new contract when he returns from Argentina. The young and talented striker is expected to give up his options from Europe, including Benfica, and sign a new three-year contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv in order to forge himself in Israel and leave in a year or two for Europe when he is more prepared and mature.
