He's back: Karl-Heinz Rummenigge wants to get his FC Bayern out of trouble. In an interview, he reveals his plans.
Munich – They wanted to let go – now they are more in demand than ever: Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge are returning to the day-to-day business of FC Bayern. Hoeneß, as a member of the supervisory board and in the end once again the decisive person behind the expulsion of the board members Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic, was never really out.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge back at FC Bayern: "I won't intervene operationally"
Rummenigge, on the other hand, does. The Westphalian was reappointed to the supervisory board shortly after the noisy board quake and is now to work with Thomas Tuchel to push ahead with transfer plans as long as no new sporting director is installed. In an interview with the German Press Agency (dpa), he spoke in detail about his new role for the first time.
"I'm not going to intervene surgically," he clarifies at first. He sees himself in an advisory role. As long as there is no new sporting director in office, "Uli and I, together with Herbert Hainer, Jan-Christian Dreesen and the coach, will try to get things done," explains the 67-year-old.

FC Bayern: Rummenigge tops Nagelsmann
Rummenigge also wants to bring back "values such as harmony, loyalty, atmosphere". "It is striking that with the change of coach in March, there was a great deal of unrest," he notes. "On top of that, we were unfortunately eliminated from the DFB-Pokal and the Champions League pretty quickly. This caused dissatisfaction."
The long-time CEO also pointed the way to Julian Nagelsmann: "We had a young coach. And I've always been a friend of experience." Of course, he doesn't have a bad word to say about Tuchel, whom he wanted to bring to Munich years ago.

"I'm convinced that Thomas Tuchel will be a very successful coach at FC Bayern," he said. But who will be Tuchel's new boss? Rummenigge almost rules out a foreign sporting director: "There are undoubtedly good people abroad, but we would be well advised to concentrate on Germany."

On his return to Säbener Straße, Rummenigge said with a smile: "When the faithful dog eyes of Uli Hoeneß look at you, it's hard to say no. I had to calm my wife down a bit. But she still understands."
