Real Madrid announced: Karim Benzema is leaving. After rumours of offers from Saudi Arabia and his statement that "everything written in the media is not true", the Blancos announced on Sunday that the captain would leave after 14 years at the club.
"Real Madrid and our captain Karim Benzema have agreed to end his brilliant and unforgettable period as a player at our club," the club said in a statement.

"Benzema came to our club in 2009, at the age of just 21, and was a crucial part of this golden era in our history. During his 14 seasons with the club's emblem, he won 25 titles, a record for Real Madrid: 5 European Championships, 5 Club World Cups, 4 European Super Cups, 4 Championships, 3 Copa del Rey and 4 Spanish Super Cups.
"Benzema is the current Player of the Year, Ballon d'Or and UEFA, as well as included in the FIFA Team of the Year and the top scorer of 2022. He won these awards after one of the most impressive seasons in our history, especially in the Champions League, where the captain starred in memorable games that helped Real Madrid win the 14th European Cup in Paris, being the factory's top scorer with 15 goals.
"Benzema ranks fifth at the club with 647 appearances, and is second in the list of goalscorers with 353 goals. Real Madrid will always be his home."
On Tuesday, June 6, at 12:00 noon (Spanish time), a farewell ceremony will be held for Benzema in the presence of club president Florentino Perez.
