Unbelievable that will be told. Antwerp reached the 40th and final round leading the table in Belgium knowing that it depended on itself if it wanted to win its fifth championship in its history, its first in 66 years and in fact its first ever double. For former player Marc van Bommel, these are the first career titles since he retired and converted to a coaching career, which until now has been far from successful.

Antwerp came into the 40th and final round with 46 points, ahead of Saint-Gilloise on goal difference, while Genk was only in third place with one point less. Despite being self-reliant, Antwerp twice fell behind and had already seen Genk's players celebrate the championship at their own expense given the advantage they had until the 90+4th minute, as ranked Union Saint-Gilloise also dropped home advantage in the 89th minute and Genk found itself jumping straight to the top from third place in extra time, but Toby Alderweireld with a kick from about 20 yards straight into the connections made it a completely insane 2:2 and restored the championship in drama from the movies.

Saint-Gilloise came close to a 12th title in its history last season, but the offset rule erased its five-point advantage and it lost the title to Club Brugge in the championship play-offs. Tonight they were on the verge of their first title in 88 years, but conceded an equaliser from the same Brugge who snatched the title in the 89th minute, in extra time they also conceded two more goals and eventually lost 3-1.

At the same time, Genk led 1-2 over Antwerp at the start of extra time and in such a situation they would have taken the championship. Genk led twice throughout the evening, but in the closing seconds, four minutes into extra time to be precise, came defender Toby Alderweireld who from outside the area fired a tremendous ball into the connections and so the championship actually passed between all three teams from the 89th minute to the 90+4th minute - first it was Saint-Gilloise who won the championship, then Genk for a few minutes was the champion and it was Antwerp who had the last laugh and won the title with the crazy equaliser in extra time.
