While the president of Montpellier Mohed Altrad has assured that he would not abandon Mohamed Haouas, despite his sentence to one year in prison, without continued detention, for domestic violence, the Hérault club has published an official statement to clarify its position in this case.

«Montpellier Hérault Rugby has taken note of the decision of the Criminal Court of Montpellier against Mohamed Haouas. The club wishes to clarify that it condemns the unacceptable behavior of the player which is in no way in line with the values and principles defended by the MHR. The sporting career of Mohamed Haouas, passed by the rugby school and the training center of the club, does not excuse in any way his actions which have been, rightly, sanctioned by the justice. Montpellier Hérault Rugby and its president Mohed Altrad have worked actively and for years to the integration and professional success of the player. The club, which has seen him grow into a man and start a family, is full of support for his wife Imane and their children, Jade and Jayden, in this difficult situation.»
