Beitar Jerusalem issued a statement on Monday following the court's decision to suspend it from European competitions next season.

According to the decision, the team will not be able to take part in European competitions next season, in addition to a fine of NIS 70,3 and a sentence of <> points reduction suspended for one year, for each re-conviction for the offense of rioting fans under aggravated circumstances.

The official announcement: "We received with astonishment the punishment imposed on Beitar Jerusalem Football Club by the judges of the Football Association," it said. "This is a decision that severely harms the club, hundreds of thousands of the team's fans, sports in Israel and the city of Jerusalem, which is expecting and preparing to host a football match in a European framework."

"Beitar Jerusalem won the cup very justifiably and in a fair and sporting manner and we expect that the judges will be wise to reverse the decision and that common sense will prevail, as soon as possible, so that we can quickly prepare for the goal before our eyes, which is participation in the Conference League qualifiers.

"At the same time, the club's owner, Barak Abramov, calls on our fans not to lend a hand to violence of any kind and makes a personal request not to demonstrate in front of the home of the chairman of the Football Association and the judges of the court.

"The owners of the club hope and expect that common sense and sportsmanship will overcome the bureaucracy and allow Beitar Jerusalem Football Club to represent the city of Jerusalem and the State of Israel in the European framework.
