An Algerian international football player has been placed in custody at the Elancourt police station, in the Paris region, for violence against his 15-year-old sister, a police source said Monday.
Ishak Belfodil, a 31-year-old French-Algerian player, was heard by investigators after a dispute with his sister, who had traces of strangulation that did not require care, according to the same source, confirming information from the regional daily Le Parisien.
The player, striker of the Qatari club Al Gharafa SC, has 19 caps (2 goals) with Algeria since 2013, after having evolved in the selections of young French. Passed by the training center of Paris SG, he then changed clubs very often -12 times in 13 years. He played for Olympique Lyonnais between 2009 and 2012 before moving to Italian and German teams.
