Drama in the ICC: The Israel Football Association today (Monday) sentenced Beitar Jerusalem to a heavy punishment following the events of the State Cup final against Maccabi Netanya.
The team will not be able to take part in European competitions next season, in addition to a fine of NIS 70,3 and a suspended sentence of <> points reduction for one year, on each re-conviction for the offense of rioting fans under aggravated circumstances.
The judges explained their decision: "Even if, as is the custom of Beit Hillel, we allowed the defendant to continue to hold the title, we were unable to find proper reasons to allow her to also enjoy the fruits and economic rights that accompany it, contrary to the regulations."
Beitar is expected to appeal the punishment that will not allow it to play in Europe this season. If the decision is not changed on appeal, Maccabi Netanya, which lost the final, may receive the ticket to Europe instead of Jerusalemites
