Uruguay awaits Israel's under-20 team in the semifinals of the World Cup, it was decided Sunday night after the Celeste's 0-2 victory over the United States. The semi-final will take place on Thursday at 20:30 p.m. in La Plata, and Israel will try to continue its magic journey against the tough South American gang that stopped the Americans who looked favourites.
Uruguay took the lead in the 21st minute when Juan Cruz backed up Anderson Duarte who scored the first goal for the U.S. team of the tournament. The U.S. made substitutions and applied pressure in the second half to try to get the equaliser, but an own goal by Josh Winder in the 56th minute sealed their fate and from there there was no turning back.

For Uruguay, this is their second qualification for the final of the tournament, having last done so in 2013. In 2017, she reached the semifinals. They lost 3-2 to England in the group stage, but otherwise beat Iraq and Tunisia in the eighth final.
Earlier, the third quarter-final between South Korea and Nigeria took place tonight, at the end of which the Asians advanced to the last four where they will meet strong Italy. After 90 goalless minutes, the game went to extra-time and five minutes from the start, defender Choi Suk-hyun struck the only goal of the game to give his team a 0-1 lead. Recall that in the previous World Cup in 2019, the Koreans were stopped only in the final and are two victories away from history.
