The U12 basketball players of TSV Penzberg have moved into the final tournament of the district leagues. There, a derby victory came at just the right time.
Penzberg - In addition to the U16 (we reported), the U12 basketball players TSV Penzberg also won a championship title. In their home Josef-Boos-Halle, the young Penzbergs won the playoff tournament for the district league title in the district of Upper Bavaria-West.
Penzberger U12 wins championship title of the district leagues
In a tense final, the home team prevailed 41:38 against their long-time rivals ESV Staffelsee. While the Murnau team "convinced with a great defense", according to a statement, the Penzbergers presented themselves as a team with a broad offensive base. Every player could contribute to the victory. The squad included: Milo Heyse, Jan Muschen, Fabian Gehrke, Paul Biniek, Johannes Schwagerick, Jonathan Ciazynski, Willam Merz, Niklas Gericke, Matthias Zach and Robin Drenckhahn.

The Penzberger finished the Kreisliga B (12 points/665:401 baskets) behind ESV Staffelsee in second place. The coaching team (Gero Heyse, Simon Sodbat, Kolya Moheysen-Zadeh, Andreas Lotz, Matthias Wiese and Florian Stapelfeldt) have managed to make the team "stronger and stronger through the season," according to TSV. While the first duel with Staffelsee was clearly lost (59:92), the second leg was much closer (68:69). As a sovereign second – the lead over DJK Landsberg was four points – the Penzbergs moved into the playoff final tournament.

The first-placed teams in the Kreisliga A (ESV Staffelsee, TSV Penzberg) and B (Slama Jama Gröbenzell, TSV Gräfelfing) had qualified. The hosts won their semi-final with 48:25 against Gröbenzell. In doing so, TSV repeatedly showed its qualities through fast passing forward. Since ESV Staffelsee also won its semi-final, everything was set for the derby.
