Shortly before the possible treble, there is speculation about a return of Ilkay Gündogan to BVB. Two circumstances would favor the transfer of the ManCity captain.
Manchester – It would be a sensation for all BVB fans in the coming transfer window: Ilkay Gundogan could return to Borussia Dortmund. This is evident from information provided by Bild. The midfielder's contract with the Sky Blues expires on 30 June 2023. Gundogan's future depends on a potential agreement with the club.

Gundogan and Man City disagree on contract term – BVB interested?
The main topic of discussion is the lack of agreement between Gundogan and City on the duration of the contract. Gundogan is likely to demand a two-year contract, while Manchester City are only offering a one-year extension. Due to the contract, which has not yet been extended, a comeback at BVB is being discussed.
According to Bild, two circumstances speak in favour of a possible transfer to the Black and Yellows: On the one hand, Dortmund could earn at least 120 million through the sale of Jude Bellingham. Gündogan would come to the Ruhr area free of charge, but would also demand a correspondingly high salary. The replacement of Bellingham in midfield would be realized by Gundogan. On the other hand, personal contact with sporting director Sebastian Kehl in the years following his move to the Premier League should not have been broken off.

"Nothing has been decided yet": Gundogan makes it exciting
After his side's FA Cup success against United last weekend, the midfielder announced that "nothing has been decided yet" and continued to fuel the rumour mill: "We'll see what happens." The Germany international was able to lead his team to victory as captain with two sensational goals in the FA Cup final.
Next Saturday (21 p.m.) the final in the UEFA Champions League will take place in Istanbul: Man City against Inter Milan. The Citizens around captain Gündogan want to realize their dream of the treble in the Atatürk Olympic Stadium.
Whether it will be the last game of the national player in the light blue dress for the time being is still questionable. Pep Guardiola, coach at City, wants to stick to the 32-year-old, as he revealed in a BBC interview. Both are neighbours, "have lived on the same floor for many years, so he's a close friend of mine," said Guardiola, describing his relationship with the DFB star, explaining: "He's playing exceptionally well."

Other clubs interested in top star Gundogan
But it's not just BVB that's keen on Gundogan. In addition to FC Barcelona, FC Arsenal are also said to be interested in the midfielder. The Catalans could be thwarted by the club's ongoing financial difficulties. BVB could profit from this – if the contract between the parties Gündogan and City should not be extended. (dpa/likr)
