The Football Association Tribunal imposed a harsh punishment on Beitar Jerusalem following the break-in of fans on the pitch after the State Cup final: expulsion from Europe for the 2023/24 season. In addition, the club was sentenced to a fine of NIS 70,3 and a reduction of 0 points suspended for one year.
In such a case, the team that should receive a place in Europe is the team that finished fourth in the league, namely Hapoel Jerusalem. However, it is believed that Beitar Jerusalem will appeal the heavy punishment.
At the end of the State Cup final two weeks ago, in which Beitar beat Maccabi Netanya 3-14 to win its first title in <> years, many fans burst onto the pitch. President Isaac Herzog, who was preparing to award the trophy to the winner, was rescued by security guards and a riot erupted on the pitch in Haifa. The trophy ceremony was cancelled and finally took place at the President's House.

Beitar Jerusalem was supposed to participate in the Conference League qualifiers and return to the continental arena after a three-year absence. In the capital, they dreamed of qualifying for the first ever European group stage and as a result a handsome financial income, but then came the breakthrough onto the pitch followed by the penalty.
