Relief at VfB Hallbergmoos II, huge disappointment at FC Neufahrn: In the relegation match on Sunday, the VfB reserves narrowly prevailed.

Hallbergmoos/Neufahrn – The footballers of VfB Hallbergmoos II were relieved on Sunday: In a thrilling match, they narrowly prevailed 1-0 (1-0) against A-Class club FC Neufahrn in the relegation duel for the starting place in the district class in Moosinning and were the only VfB team to stay in the league this season.

The golden goal came right in the early stages and out of nowhere. After the Neufahrner had initially dominated the action, VfB launched their first attack after winning the ball: Lukas Schlecht finished free in the penalty area and executed in the fifth minute to give them the lead. Afterwards, Hallbergmoos II continued to press, but was quite harmless.

FC Neufahrn with bad luck at the end

After a quarter of an hour, the Neufahrn footballers improved - and were unlucky a little later: Tufan Cicek had free rein. But the referee ruled offside – a questionable decision. And it went on towards the VfB goal: Kevin Ogbebor missed a chance from a good ten yards and later hit the crossbar from the outside.

In the closing stages of the first period, however, VfB were back in control and should have made it 2-0 through Lukas Schlecht: twice he appeared free in front of FCN goalkeeper Christoph Kirmaier - and twice he failed to beat the brilliant keeper.

Kevin Ogbebor had the first big chance for Neufahrn in the second half after just under an hour, but he found his master in Hallbergmoos goalkeeper Fabian Veit. Subsequently, the VfB reserves had more compelling scenes. The Neufahrner played well in midfield, but often let themselves be overrun, especially on the left side. Julian Gebhard and Marc Winkelmann came dangerously towards the FCN goal, but did not get past keeper Kirmaier.

When VfB player-coach Markus Kratzer had also missed a top-class goal in the 90th minute, the Neufahrner started the last offensive. And the equaliser almost came after a corner in injury time - but in the end a Hallbergmooser was able to defuse the ball out of the hustle and bustle.

There was no boundless jubilation after the final whistle, despite the fact that they had managed to stay in the league. At VfB, relief prevailed, and they also felt sorry for their opponents. Hallberg's team manager Gencer Ugurlu, who himself worked in Neufahrn for a long time, emphasized: "Of course, staying in the league is immensely important for us. But my heart also bleeds a little." He would have preferred to have had another opponent in the relegation. At FCN, there was huge disappointment in view of the missed promotion. Nevertheless, the passionately fighting team was celebrated by its numerous fans for minutes after the game.
