Carlos Alcaraz faces Stéfanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinals of Roland Garros on Tuesday (from 20.15, Eurosport). The Murcia, number one in the ranking, faces the Greek, fifth, for a place in the semifinal of Paris, in which he would meet Novak Djokovic, who overcame round by overcoming Khachanov (4-6, 7-6, 6-2 and 6-4). Alcaraz has overcome his rivals so far with relative solvency and is measured against an opponent he has defeated on the four occasions in which they have faced, the last in the final of the Conde de Godó in April. Now he is looking for a place in his first Roland Garros semi-final against Tsitsipas.

Alcaraz is clear about it

Alcaraz, aware that the statistics in the head-to-head runs in his favor, clarified: "We have played great games and I have won whenever we have played, but that does not mean that I will win all the games we play." Winner then over Lorenzo Musetti in the fourth round with superb tennis, he added: "I have to be very focused, he is a very tough opponent. But it's clear that his game suits me well." So does Tsitsipas, who picked up the gauntlet: "Carlos is someone who keeps the intensity high all the time. It does not neglect gaps. It's very intense. Very energetic and can be seen on track. He puts a lot of that into the rallies and into his rituals when he plays. I think this has helped him a lot."

Tsitsipas, like a glove

Although Stéfanos Tsitsipas has a high tennis, it suits Alcaraz well, because he counts the four occasions in which they have measured themselves as a winner. The first two were on hard courts (US Open in 2020 and Miami 2021) and in the last two on clay (both in the Godó, 2022 and 2023).

Alcaraz, four titles in the year

It has been a sensational year for Alcaraz, as it was also the past. In this course he has four laurels: Madrid, Barcelona, Indian Wells and Buenos Aires. What comes out is a very expressive statistic: 34 games won and three lost. Among them, in the second round in Rome, in the previous tournament, against Fabian Marozsan. But Alcaraz has shown that in Paris the pressure feels good, because all eyes point to him as the favorite for the scepter – it would be his second major after the US open of the previous year – with Djokovic's permission.
