The Israeli national team has begun preparations for the current Euro 2024 qualifying window. Next Friday they will meet Belarus away and on Tuesday they will host Andorra at Teddy Stadium. On Tuesday, national team coach Alon Hazan held a press conference.
"Ostensibly we will meet teams that are underdogs against us, but we look at the whole campaign. The goal is not two games, but to qualify for the Euros at the end. For that, we need to take three points against Belarus and three against Andorra," Hazan began.
The coach added: "My approach and Yossi Benayoun's approach is to summon young people and give them a platform - even at the price of paying for it. In order to earn players, you have to let them play. You have to make them experienced players in the national team even at the age of 22-23."
The coach was asked about the issue of Omar Atzili and replied: "I called him up to the national team. He made his choice because before he is a footballer he is first and foremost a family man. We respect his choice and if in the future it is possible to bring him back, we will make a decision about him."
