Highlights: The club is preparing for an appeal and thinks that the main responsibility lies with the Association. The owner understood the mood among the crowd and therefore the call was made to refrain from going to the home of the prosecutor, the judges and the chairman of the association. But it was apparently too late. The fans came to Nir Reshef's home and protested, lit fireworks and broke potted plants in the lobby of the building, which led to a complaint to the police. Beitar takes into account that part of yesterday's punishment may be a preparation for a discussion in the Supreme Court.

The club is preparing for an appeal and thinks that the main responsibility lies with the Association. On the judges: "They didn't even wait for the committee's conclusions, they came up with a decision from home"

Beitar Jerusalem acted yesterday (Monday) on two levels. In the first out of fear that the anger of the fans would lose control. Throughout the evening, talks were held with fans in the hope that they would lower the flames starting in the morning and let the club and the legal team concentrate on the appeal, with the club saying: "You can understand what the fans are feeling, but it must not escalate to violence, especially since it will not help in the appeal, maybe vice versa."

Barak Abramov flew abroad yesterday with Yossi Abukasis, and only when he landed did he hear about the punishment Beitar had suffered. The owner understood the mood among the crowd and therefore the call was made to refrain from going to the home of the prosecutor, the judges and the chairman of the association, but it was apparently too late. The fans came to Nir Reshef's home and protested, lit fireworks and broke potted plants in the lobby of the building, which led to a complaint to the police. The fans then proceeded to the Aluf Sadeh intersection, blocking it for nearly an hour until the police arrived. To passersby, the fans said: "We'll come here every week if necessary."

The Association felt the mood in the hours after the court's decision, and already about an hour after the decision, following messages received by senior Association officials, the prosecutor and Dayanim contacted the police and warned about what was expected to happen, and then also issued a statement warning of what was to come, with a senior Association official saying: "There is a fear that this will get out of control, everyone is guilty and no one is guilty, we have to see how to find solutions to this matter."

Beitar is already preparing for the next stage, the appeal and, if necessary, going to court. Beitar takes into account that part of yesterday's punishment may be a preparation for a discussion in the Supreme Court, according to which the right to play in Europe will be restored but the conditional points will be converted into actual points, and they do not agree to this either. The club consulted with attorney Ephraim Barak and may be assisted by his ranks in the upcoming hearings.

A Beitar source said yesterday: "We will go all the way with this. It started with the fact that they didn't postpone the discussion until the conclusions of the committee that Shino established, which is delusional, continued with the fact that when we entered the discussion the mood was clear, they didn't come at all to ask questions or learn the story, they came with a decision from home to take the trophy to the team, that was the goal and that's what they were aiming for. It's been a bad year for Israeli football with fans, but they won't drop everything on Beitar."

Beitar received satisfactory legal opinions, including regarding the Association's responsibility. The choice of Shino Zuaretz to establish a committee and the fact that the incident is first and foremost the responsibility of the Association and obliges it to head the blame. Beyond the announcement by Minister Miki Zohar, Minister Nir Barkat and other politicians, a number of team owners have already contacted Abramov and assured him that they will stand by him in any way he chooses, with Beitar speaking yesterday that assuming the punishment does not change or changes and is still extreme, the team will announce that it will not appear for league games next season.

One person who has not shown solidarity with Beitar is its urban rival, Hapoel Jerusalem, which enjoys sting Beitar in situations it sees fit, and yesterday quickly tweeted that it is willing to participate in European enterprises at the expense of its rival. Beitar said of the opponent: "That's the difference between a serious club with a backbone like Netanya and a group of kids, they will only see Europe in training camp."
