+++ VfB Stuttgart won 3-1 (0-1) against Hamburger SV in the relegation play-off and thus remain in the Bundesliga. After the 0-3 defeat in the first leg, Hamburg threw everything into the balance right at the beginning of the second leg. The Hanseatic side were energetic and self-confident and shocked VfB with their early goal. But the Swabians kept their nerve and came back on the pitch much more confidently and confidently in the second half. Hamburg, on the other hand, seemed to have lost faith in the miracle after Enzo Millot's goal to equalize 1-1. Millot gratefully accepted HSV keeper Heuer Fernandes' mistake and slotted in to make it 2-1. His jubilation over the opening goal caused turmoil between the teams. In injury time, Silas finally sealed the relegation with the goal to make it 3-1.

Enzo Millot makes it 2-1 for VfB
64th minute: What a mistake by Heuer Fernandes! Hamburg's keeper kicks over the ball after a back pass and Millot gets in between. The Stuttgart player then casually slotted in to make it 2-1 for VfB. Thus, Millot puts together his double pack. He then cheers in front of the Hamburg curve and thus triggers turmoil. The Hamburg players are very annoyed, so that it comes to a pack formation. Even VfB coach Hoeneß gets involved. But after a few moments, the situation calms down again.

58th minute: Is the oven now out for HSV? At the moment, the people of Hamburg seem to have lost their faith somewhat.
51st minute: Now Führich is alone in the wide corridor on the way forward. In doing so, he takes on the entire Hamburg defence, but eventually gets stuck.
Millot equalises for VfB
48th minute: There's the equaliser for VfB: Endo marches through midfield and sends Guirassy into the depths. The Swabian attacker lays down on the right to Millot, who shoots in to make it 1-1.

46th minute: The ball is rolling again in the Volksparkstadion. For Mavropanos, who had already seen yellow, VfB coach Hoeneß sends Dan-Axel Zagadou onto the field. Hamburg continues to play unchanged.
HALF TIME: HSV set off a real fireworks display in the first few minutes and deservedly took the lead. As a result, VfB became stronger and stronger, but the Swabians did not reward themselves for their efforts. A goal from Guirassy did not count due to an offside decision, so the Hamburg team can continue to hope for the promotion miracle. At the end of the first half, the Hanseatic team put VfB under pressure again, but this time Stuttgart got away without conceding another goal.
45th minute+1: Hamburg again: After a cross from the right, Jatta heads the ball from the far post into the centre, where VfB keeper Müller again interferes with one hand and thus extinguishes the fire in the Stuttgart penalty area.

HSV are on an equal footing against VfB
31st minute: In contrast to the first leg, this duel takes place on an equal footing, as Hamburg are much more present. The Walter protégés are poisonous in the duels and invest a lot. However, Stuttgart is also fully in the game, so it will continue to be difficult for Hamburg to make up for Thursday's 0-3 deficit.
29th minute: After a corner, Stuttgart's Anton heads just left past the HSV box. But referee Dankert decides on foul.

Kittel gives HSV an early lead against VfB
6th minute: What a start for HSV, there is the quick lead! Dompé serves Kittel, who aims for the left corner from the right edge of the penalty area and nets the ball to make it 1-0.
4th minute: Good first opportunity for Hamburg: Dompé whirls a free kick over the Stuttgart wall onto goal, but VfB goalkeeper Müller, who was already on his way in the other direction, saves.
3rd minute: HSV starts powerfully. Kittel runs into VfB goalkeeper Müller, who just manages to get rid of the ball.

Hamburg/Stuttgart – It was a hefty bankruptcy. Hamburger SV were beaten 0-3 (0-1) in the first leg of the relegation play-off at the Mercedes-Benz Arena, so VfB are on the verge of relegation.
Bastian Dankert is on duty as a referee for the relegation second leg between HSV and VfB
The second leg is now scheduled for Monday. Rostock's Bastian Dankert will referee Hamburger SV's match against VfB Stuttgart. The 42-year-old has already been a referee in an explosive match between the two clubs, namely in October 2019 in the DFB-Pokal (2nd round).
At that time, VfB won in extra time thanks to Hamadi Al Ghaddioui's 2-1 winning goal in the 114th minute.

Goalkeeper question at VfB: Florian Müller will replace Fabian Bredlow again
As in the first leg, Florian Müller will replace the injured Fabian Bredlow in goal for VfB Stuttgart. Bredlow suffered a torn medial ligament in his knee during warm-up before Matchday 34 against TSG Hoffenheim.
Meanwhile, Dan-Axel Zagadou, who has recovered and suffered from foot pain, is likely to join the squad. However, the Frenchman will have to take a seat on the bench, as Stuttgart's back three around Hiroki Ito, Waldemar Anton and Konstantinos Mavropanos have shown good performances recently.
HSV coach Tim Walter fears for Jonas David
As far as personnel are concerned, Hamburg will have to make do without Anssi Suhonen, who was shown the red card in the first leg at VfB.
In addition, HSV coach Walter is worried about his defender Jonas David, who is "sickly", as the coach revealed at the press conference on Sunday.
VfB coach Sebastian Hoeneß remains focused
While Walter, as usual, is confidently tackling the difficult home task against Stuttgart, his counterpart, VfB coach Sebastian Hoeness, chooses a calm tone.
After the clear home victory, the Swabian coach tried to put the brakes on the euphoria. "The goal was to achieve this good starting position, but the pressure is still there because we have to confirm our performance in the second game and take the second step," Hoeneß said at the press conference on Sunday.
HSV need a football miracle after a clear first leg defeat against VfB
His counterpart Walter still believes in the football miracle: "We're starting at minus three, but we're trying to work our way up bit by bit. My boys have a really awesome character. We are a family, I am totally convinced of my family." 1887 percent, so the coach alluded to the founding year of HSV.
