Expressions of support and tributes to Sergio Rico are multiplying. While the second goalkeeper of Paris Saint-Germain is still in a "serious" but "stable" condition at the Virgen del Rocío University Hospital in Seville (Spain), the parish of La Madeleine in Paris invites faithful and followers of the player to attend a service in his honor this Wednesday, June 7.
In a statement on its website, the parish said: "An intercessory mass for the recovery of Sergio Rico, goalkeeper of Paris Saint-Germain, will take place on Wednesday, June 7 at 12:30 pm in the Madeleine Church." The Madeleine Church houses the chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Sportsmen.
"All Paris Saint-Germain fans, and beyond, friends and admirers of Sergio Rico, are invited to unite by their presence and prayer at this moment of contemplation." All are then invited to place a candle near the altar of the Virgin and share a time of prayer, for the restoration of the guardian of the club of the capital.
Sergio Rico suffered a serious head injury on Sunday, May 28, while participating in the pilgrimage organized every year at Pentecost in the Andalusian village of El Rocío, where nearly a million people gathered to celebrate the "Virgen del Rocío". On Saturday evening, on the occasion of the last match of the season of Paris Saint-Germain, Sergio Rico was warmly supported by the entire Parc des Princes. The ultras deployed several tifos in honor of the player, when his teammates dedicated their goals and the title of champions of France acquired this season.
