Zivko Labor traveled to Wiesbaden as Bavarian champion for the senior DM. There, the sports bowler of Fortuna Penzberg once again caused a sensation.
Penzberg – In the district preliminaries, i.e. in the "Zugspitze" bowling district, Zivko Labor had to settle for third place. At the following individual championships, however, the SKC Fortuna Penzberg sports bowler did not let anyone pass.
In the age group Seniors C (from 70 years) Labor was the measure of all things at both Upper Bavaria and Bavarian level and won the gold medal. And also at the German championship, held in Wiesbaden, the Fortuna player caused a sensation.
Zivko Laboratory wins silver at senior German Championships in bowling
Labor was at the forefront of his class from the very first litter. In the end, after qualifying and the final run, one tiny thing, two wood, was missing for absolute triumph. With 1107 wood (354 in clearing), the Penzberger won the silver medal - a great success for him and also for the Zugspitze district. Medals at German championships are not an everyday occurrence for the sports bowlers from the region.
(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Weilheim-Penzberg newsletter.)
Peter Hitzlberger (Blau-Weiß Peiting) achieved the feat of standing on the podium three times: in 2004 (in the men's category) and 2017 (in the senior A) category, he won DM gold. In 2014, the Peitinger won bronze in the men's event. Fabian Lange, who played for SKC Gut Holz Eberfing at the time, won the German junior runner-up title in 2015. One year later, Erika Mährlein and Hans-Martin Pitters (SKC Fortuna Penzberg) returned home with bronze from the German championship in the then new competition form "Tandem Mixed International".
Tight decision with two wood difference
In Wiesbaden, Zivko Labor shone in the qualification with 560 wood (196 in clearing). This put him in the lead in the field of 20 participants. In the final run the following day, the Fortuna player scored 547 wood, where he shone in particular in the full (389). It wasn't quite enough for gold, as the runner-up after the heat, Wolfgang Grötzner (KFV Dessau-Roßlau), narrowly overtook Labor in the overall standings with 559 wood in the final run. Bronze went to Dietmar Fröhlich (1098/TSG Sehma).

Labor had qualified for the DM by winning the title at the Bavarian Championship. In Karlstadt he won with a total score of 1088 wood ahead of Ludwig Köppele (Erlangen/1082) and Erich Götzl (Deuringen/1062). The Penzberger laid the foundation for success in the preliminary round - there 557 wood meant first place.
Three players at the Bavarian championship
The second participant from the Zugspitze district, Michael Eigner, narrowly missed out on making it to the final of the top eight. The sports bowler of SKC Gut Holz Huglfing achieved 516 wood in the heat. That was two too few to be able to compete for the medals afterwards. In the end, Eigner finished in tenth place.

In the Seniors B, three bowlers from the district had qualified for the Bavarian Championship, the venue was Passau. However, the trio was denied entry into the final run. Rosi Grozda Müller (Schwarz-Gelb Schongau) with 510 wood in thirteenth place narrowly missed out on making it into the twelve who will fight for the medals in the final run. Müller had the right to start as the so-called defending champion. In 2019, at the last edition to date, the Black and Yellow player won the championship with 1072 wood ahead of Gitta Heym (Erlangen/1069) and Christine Grau (Schretzheim/1068).
Angelika Wagner wins district title with 1000 wood
In Passau, a duo from Frischauf Weilheim was also at the start. In the end, Inge Dietrich (501) and Angelika Wagner (496) finished 16th and 17th out of 24 participants. The championship title was won by Michaela Ruhl (KV Schweinfurt) with a total of 1116 wood. In the final she played with 581 wood, a Bavarian record over 120 throws in this age group.
At the district championship in the run-up to the Bavarian title fights, Wagner had surprised the competition in the preliminary heat. With 529 wood, she achieved by far the best result. In the final run, 471 wood was enough for her to cross the finish line as a sovereign winner, with a total of 1000 wood. Müller (982) won silver, Dietrich (931) secured bronze.

At the district level, there were further medals for participants from the Zugspitze district: In the senior A category, Sonja Heinfling (SKC Krün) won silver with 944 wood. Thanks to the better clearing result compared to the same club colleague Adelheid Ostermair (SKV Penzberg), Traudel Kral won bronze. Both had scored 921 wood each. To silver was missing nine wood.
Reinhold Berchtold (Schwarz-Blau Burggen) landed on the podium in the Seniors B: 995 wood gave him bronze in an exciting competition behind two bowlers from KC Ruhpolding. In the field of seniors A, Andreas Seiband (Schwarz-Gelb Schongau) made a leap forward in the final run: With 525 wood, he moved up from fifth to third place. In total, rope tape came to 1034 wood. Gold went in a superior manner to Wolfgang Schuhbeck (1142) from SKK Teisendorf. In the case of seniors C, Labor (1037) dominated the events at the district level. Eigner (996) improved to silver place in the final run.
