"With infinite sadness and a heavy heart," the Parisian e-sports club Vitality announced on Wednesday the death of Karel Asenbrener, better known by his pseudonym Twisten. The young Czech, only 19 years old, professional player on the Valorant shooting game, had joined last November the French team, with which he played at the highest European level. "Our first thoughts are with his family, friends and teammates who are going through this painful ordeal," reads the structure's statement. "The entire organization is devastated by this news and all communication will be interrupted for today."

While the cause of Twisten's death has not been officially revealed, Vitality accompanied its statement with a second tweet on mental health. In it, the club redirects to the website of Mental Health Europe, which brings together organisations and telephone lines supporting people suffering from depression on the continent.
"Mental health continues to be an extremely important topic for everyone, whether in esports or in life in general. If you're going through tough times, contact someone to talk about it, it's never too late. »
It doesn't feel real and it probably never will, a part of me has been taken away. I don't think I've ever lived a day worse then this, the pain in my soul is unexplainable and that is because you were my little brother, because the love I had for you was indescribable. pic.twitter.com/eaNXNZpKI8

Recently, Twisten had opened up on his social networks about the depression he had been suffering from for two years, confiding in "the difficult times" he had gone through, especially at the end of last year, and his stay in a specialized hospital. Since the announcement of his death, tributes have multiplied on social networks, from members of Vitality or simple followers of e-sports.
With a heavy heart, words do not come. I just want to send my condolences and thoughts to his family, our players and all the people who loved him. There were many of us. https://t.co/zGT404fH9s
