The final competition at the Gau shooting was once again a tough one. The shooters delivered exciting elimination shoots in Kinsau - in front of a stately backdrop.

Kinsau – At the sporting conclusion of the 67th Gau Shooting, the best shooters in the individual competitions met in the Kinsau shooting tent for the grand finale, which was hard to beat in terms of excitement in the presence of almost 300 visitors and was the sporting highlight of this twelve-day competition series. Pupils, adolescents and adults/juniors shot their best with air rifle and air pistol in a longer event.

Almost 300 spectators at the final shootout

What the cup round is for the footballers, the grand final is for the Gauschützen, in which the best of the various individual competitions duel. In the "Schüler" age group, the eleven best plus two representatives of the host Kinsau shooting club competed in the air rifle, and there were just as many among the youth.

There were 24 qualifiers each for the adults (plus two Kinsauer) with the air rifle and with the air pistol. With each shot, the one with the worst result was eliminated.

A steady hand, a sure eye and few signs of nervousness characterized Kerstin Fahl from the Prem shooting club. "From the second half onwards, I felt good and expected to be able to be in front," admitted the victorious fast shooter, who completed her program quite quickly. "If I wait a long time, I'll just get restless," was the reason for their rapid fire.

Second place went to Stefan Seiband from Schwab ahead of Birgit Waldmann from Schwabniederhofen. Other placings: 4th Sandra Resch (Böbing), 5th Otmar Köpf (Urspring), 6th Mathias Fahl (Prem), 7th Stefan Strauss, (Rottenbuch), 8th Julia Zaja, (Kinsau), 9th Philip Thorhauer (Prem), 10th Melanie Schmölz (Peiting).

Michael Holderried wins with the air pistol

In the air pistol competition, Michael Holderried saved the honor of the shooting family from Tannenberg. He prevailed in the thrilling finale, kept his nerve until the last shot. "I don't have any problems with that," he admitted, "I can shoot freely and without pressure." Whereas brother Matthias, the champion shooter with World Cup experience, who had convinced in the individual competition and was considered a candidate for victory in the final shootout, dropped out prematurely. "You can't afford to miss a shot in the final," he noted.

Franz Hadersbeck also came to an early end. However, the disappointment was limited for the Altenstadt native: "For me, it was a success to be at the final at all." Hermann Helmschrott, who was regularly on the winner's podium in earlier years, also had to give up the sails very early. After a 9.1, however, it was only enough for seventh place this time. Franziska Menhart from Apfeldorf worked her way up to second place, third place went to Christian Lindinger from Böbing. The other places in the air pistol final: 4th Lukas Grimm (Kinsau), 5th Michael Redl (Tannenberg), 6th Sabine Erhard (Böbing), 7th Hermann Helmschrott (Hohenfurch), 8th Christian Schilcher (Kinsau), 9th Manfred Nuscheler (Prem), 10th Michael Feneberg (Schwabsoien).

The club's 14 fully automatic shooting ranges from Kinsau proved their worth at the grand finale, even if there were dropouts here and there and shooters and visitors had to take a short break. In the end, the two technicians Lukas Grimm, who was also eligible to compete in the air pistol final, and Johannes Schmid had everything under control.

The competitions in all age groups lasted over six hours. The award ceremonies were then held by Kinsau's shooting champion Harald Mack, and the program was led by the local Gau youth leader Thomas Haseitl, who had qualified for the final in the air rifle competition, but was eliminated in the preliminary round.
