The Dane Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) took power in the Critérium du Dauphiné even before the outcome in the Alps by winning the 5th stage alone on Thursday in Salins-les-Bains.
The winner of the last Tour de France won by about thirty seconds over a group that included the other main leaders, with the exception of David Gaudu, and took the yellow jersey at the expense of his compatriot Mikkel Bjerg (UAE).
The huge favorite of this Dauphiné flew about fifteen kilometers from the finish, in the difficult Côte de Thésy (3.6 km at 8.8%). He took his 9th victory of the season and marked his territory three weeks before the start of the Tour de France (1-23 July).
